Live & Direct from Nowhere in Particular...

I went & saw Speed Racer tonight with Steve, Diego, Dallin & Michael. It’s a fun movie. The race scenes reminded me of Mario Kart. And parts of it were quite psychedelic. I may actually go see it again in IMAX if I get a chance before my trip.

Overall I think they did a really good job. The 1970’s future look world is really great & the use of color actually makes the original cartoon look a bit bland. They did a good job integrating the live action with the cartoony action sequences. They lifted a lot of the moves in the fights straight from the original cartoon. It was hilarious. And I think John Goodman was channelling Pops.

The format of the racing was interesting too. They gave enough detail to the cars and their mechanics to make the stunts just impossible, rather than ridiculously impossible like they were in the cartoon. It’s like drifting on steroids. Fun to watch.

Anyway, if you can’t tell, I recommend it.

Apparently playing the other night with Steve was handy. I unlocked the Tiny Titan. It came up when I fired up Mario Kart tonight. Then tonight I won a trophy in the 50cc Flower Cup (I won in the Mushroom Cup the night I got it) so I unlocked the Star Cup. Yeah, I’m a dweeb. Your point? & I took pics … because, well, I’m a dweeb. But they’re on the camera, so I’ll add them later.

Add the 50cc Special Cup to the list. & the Tiny Titan is pretty sweet … easy to drive.

I ordered Mario Kart Wii after playing it @ Ray’s the night it came out. I’d had it on my Amazon list for a while so I just ordered it there. It got here late last week. It’s a fun game, definitely better with someone else playing with you, I’m not sure why, but playing it @ Ray’s & when Steve was over the other night was more fun than just playing with myself..er..by myself. I think maybe the bottle of wine helped when Steve was over.

Anyway, if there’s anyone else out there that wants to play online sometime, I’m attaching my license. Sorry about the crap pic, but I was lazy & took it with my phone.

I think I need a better bike seat. Or more practice. Likely both. Sunday, Dallin & I went on a bit of a bike ride. 14.44 miles according to the Google. I ended up a wee bit sunburned, but not as badly as I expected. In addition to a cushier seat I think I need to get my handle bar ends on, or get a new bar. Other than that, a few adjustments & perhaps a lube job, the bike works quite well. Now I just need to ride it more.

Oh, I took a few shots of some rowers & stuff while I was there, but haven’t grabbed them off the camera yet. I had my camera since we rode to the lake to check out the ABCD (All British & European Car Day) car show. Oddly, I didn’t take any pics of the cars. Go figure.

I’m sitting outside on campus & just saw a girl walk by with headphones on. Walking a dog. Holding a Coke. OK so far. Did I mention she was also reading a book?

Wow … I just realized it’s been 6 months today.

I hadn’t cried in a while. I miss him.
