So ... let's see how far off I can be.
- iBooks - The last iBook update was in July 2005, so it's about time for an update. I am guessing there will be an announcement of a new Intel powered (probably Intel® Core™ Solo processor @ 1.33 and 1.66GHz - or faster) iBook with availability sometime in February, maybe as far out as March. Probably a similar form factor to the current models, but probably further refined. I doubt there will be colors, but possibly black & white.
- iPod - There will probably be an update of some sort to the Shuffle. I doubt there would be a screen added or much change in the way of form factor. However, a 2GB version is quite likely. I just bought a 2GB SD card for $130, so I know it's possible.
- .Mac - Some sort of update is almost guaranteed, since .mac services will all be down during the keynote. Maybe some sort of further integration with a new version of iLife (It has been a year after all).
- Powerbooks - This one's a toss-up. 2 of the Powerbooks were just recently updated, but it was a fairly minor update. My guess is that the 12" will also get the new higher res screen to match its big brothers and they will all get Intel processors (probably Intel® Core™ Duo processor @ 1.66 and 2.0GHz - or faster). The cases might be updated a little, but not likely since they are so recognizable and popular.
- Mac mini - This is a tough one too. I think an update is quite likely. Probably similar to the iBooks. I think FrontRow inclusion is also likely. As well as larger hard drives. And hopefully SVideo out, though in this day of digital televisions that is less necessary. Though, the ability to drive the 30" Cinema Display would be nice.
- PowerMacs - I doubt anything will happen here.
- iMac - Ditto.
- General - There will most likely be an update to iTunes Music Store stats, probably more shows added. Probably an update to the Intel Migration roadmap and lots of info about OS & application migration progress.
How's that for a crystal ball. I doubt I'm right, but we'll see I guess. The keynote won't be streamed, but will be available afterward and the MacGeek sites should be updated shortly after it's over. The start time is 9am PST, so 11amCST. It should be over a couple hours after that.
