I ran across this while flipping through some blogs today. If you Can't Parent, Sue. His last paragraph really says it all:
The advertisers have a job to do. They are paid to make people want to buy their products. Parents have a job also. Parents have watch over their child and encourage (and sometimes enforce) good decisions that the child might not make on their own. If advertisers do their jobs, they will sell products. If parents do their jobs, their kids will get to enjoy the products but in a moderation that heads of the health problem associated with their abuse.
Wouldn't it be nice if people would actually take responsibility for their behaviors and their implications?
