It’s hard to find a solution when you won’t even look at the problem. Idiots.

According to an AP article on Yahoo!News:

The Senate Tuesday rejected a plan backed by President Barack Obama to create a bipartisan task force to tackle the federal deficit this year despite glaring new figures showing the enormity of the red-ink threat.

I think the best part if the article is from Republican Senator Judd Gregg from New Hampshire:

“Yet another indication that Congress is more concerned with the next election than the next generation,” said Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., a sponsor of the plan.

Certainly not a surprise.

And…

The measure went down because anti-tax Republicans joined with Democrats who were wary of being railroaded into cutting Social Security and Medicare.

I guess it’s good the Democrats & Republicans can agree on something. Even if it is to do nothing.

I thought this went well with this.

This studio art course provides instruction in digital photography, including camera operation, image capture, lighting techniques and digital workflow. This course will emphasize the relationship between still image capture and applications in new media contexts, such as networked environments, moving images and artist’s books. Class problems will prioritize output to screen and web, and also some print output, as well as a final project using Blurb.com to create an original artist’s book. Discussions will address the work of contemporary artists who embrace various strategies for electronic distribution of images.

A coworker was just mentioning his test results for his new ISP (really a secondary ISP, since he has FIOS), Clear. He asked me what mine was getting for ping time & such, so I ran the tests again.

About 10 times better than his for bandwidth (expected since he is in a grey area that doesn’t really have coverage on Clear’s map) and about 1/5 the ping time. Actually, I think I got a bit better than I have recently … I guess it’s a good night to stream something.

I think I have 2 things for 2010 that resemble resolutions…

1. Do something either physical or social (or both) every day.
   It doesn’t have to be something big. As simple as going for a walk in the other building at work or some exercises on Wii Fit for the physical side. Or meeting someone for dinner or coffee or something on the social side.
   
   
2. Do a mini-project a week.
   I’ve started a list of mini-projects to do. Stuff around the house, to the car(s), whatever. Just little stuff that can easily be done in a short amount of time. So far I don’t have a lot on the list, but I’m slowly adding.
   

That seems like a good start. At first I thought I might try to do a mini-resolution a month or something, but I think I like this better. The project list kind of has that feel to it. And I think both are fairly achievable, they aren’t what one would call stretch goals in the corporate parlance.

I would also like to travel a bit more this year, but that is contingent on so many things, that I don’t think I’ll make that an actual resolution. The same goes on blogging more, actually.
