My hands are gonna fall off...

On top of washing the cars today, I went to Home Depot & bought stuff to plant out front next to my driveway to replace the stuff that was torn out just as it was looking established when they redid the curbs on my street. This is what was there last May:

This year I think I actually planted too much out there. I’ll try to get some pics of it tomorrow. But for the odd friends of mine that want to know what I planted, here it is in no particular order:

 • Lithodora Grace Ward (Lithodora diffusa)
 • Sneezeweed Dakota Gold (Helenium amarum)
 • Pincushion flower Butterfly Blue (Scabiosa columbaria)
 • Creeping phlox Emerald Blue (Phlox subulata)
 • Superbells Saffron (Calibrachoa hybrid)
 • Dalina Midi Sumatra (Dahlia hybrid)
 • Then to fill things in: Marigolds, Blue Ageratum & 2 types of Society Garlic (Tulbaghia violacea and an unknown variegated variety, I had the variegated in a pot by the door last year)

Then for the pots that I have by the sidewalk & bench I got:

 • Tuberous Begonia (Begonia tuberosa) - this big pot also has some more Marigolds & Blue Ageratum along with a green sweet potato vine (Ipomoea batatas) and a purple one (Ipomoea ‘Blackie’)
 • 2 colors of Gerbera (a bright orange & a red-orange) in 2 little pots
 • An Ornamental Pepper with cool purple & white variegated leaves for a purple pot with a teal base

Hopefully most of it lives.

Got a bath...

I gave the cars a bath & took a few pics. Mainly so I could update some forum signatures. :D

Not bad for my first real morning commute. I got 42.5mpg this morning (according to the car’s computer). And I wasn’t even really trying. :D

It's time...

The Golf arrived at the dealer yesterday. So, last night I went to find out what the TT is worth (depressing). I think I’ll be picking up the Golf today, but I may also keep the TT. It depends on what Metro offers for it.

Golf ahoy

Found out the car is ashore. It hit Houston today. So, depending on where it is in queue at the port facility for the final prep / assembly that they do there, it should be headed north & be at the dealer soon.

I guess it’s time to get some loose ends like financing & such tied up.

It has been brought to my attention...

Jimbo mentioned that he hadn’t seen anything about me getting a new car on here. And sure enough, I hadn’t really mentioned it. Aside from a couple of mentions last summer, not much popped up here.

So, since the car should be setting rubber on US soil in a week or so, here it is…

Back in December, I ordered a 2010 Golf TDI. This one in fact.

The nice part of the whole thing, is that while I will have a car payment again, it will be around $200. And my insurance will likely go down. Not to mention getting twice the mileage of the TT (that’s another ~$100/month). So it’s practically a free car. ;) Or something.
